Dr. Sarah Olson
Dr. Olson is a neurosurgeon with a focus on brain tumours and pituitary tumours using minimally invasive brain surgery and endoscopic procedures. She completed her medical training in Otago in 1996, and is now a specialist neurosurgeon at the PA hospital, Mater hospital and Greenslopes hospital, as well as the supervisor of neurosurgery training at the PA hospital, a Board member of the Neurosurgical Society of Australasia, a senior lecturer at the University of Queensland among many other appointments.
She was nominated for the Pride of Australia Care and Compassion Medal in 2014 for her work in establishing a brain tumour bank with the John Trivett Foundation. She was commended for her selflessness – she had offered to pay for the maintenance of the tumour bank from her own pockets if enough funds could not be raised. She also ran the Bridge to Brisbane in 2015 to raise money for Cure Brain Cancer!
